WHAT YOU SHOULD BE LOOKING FOR WHEN CHOOSING YOUR CATHOLIC SCHOOL
SO YOU'VE DECIDED TO SEND YOUR CHILDREN TO A CATHOLIC SCHOOL GREAT! NOW COMES THE QUESTION AS TO WHICH CATHOLIC SCHOOL THEY SHOULD GO TO. THE SCHOOL YOU CHOOSE FOR YOUR CHILD WILL GREATLY INFLUENCE THEIR DEVELOPMENT INTO A FULLY GROWN PERSON. IT MAKES SENSE THAT YOU WANT YOUR CHILDREN TO GO TO A SCHOOL IN WHICH THEY WILL THRIVE AND BECOME THEIR BEST SELF. HERE ARE A COUPLE OF THINGS YOU SHOULD CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING THE BEST CATHOLIC SCHOOL FOR YOUR CHILD.
AFFORDABILITY
Being private institutions, Catholic schools charge tuition. It should be noted that among private schools, Catholic schools offer the most affordable tuition. Almost all Catholic schools offer scholarships or financial aid programs for those who do not have the means or budget to invest in their child's education. Some schools offer family volume discounts if multiple children attend the same Catholic school. Some dioceses even have programs to help parishioners who want a Catholic education for their kids.
ACADEMIC PROGRAM
Holistic academic excellence is a given for Catholic schools, but you can still check if the Catholic school you're looking at offers what your child wants and needs. Take a look at their reading list. Do they offer Advanced Placement classes? Do they have an athletics program? What about an arts or music program? How balanced are the academics, extracurriculars, and values of education? These are just some questions you should ask the school to ensure that your child has the necessary resources for their development.
VALUES
The school your child will end up attending will help shape who they will become, so you would want the school to act as an extension of your family. Ask how faith- and values-centered the curriculum is. If you want your child to grow up to be the type of person that is sensitive to the needs of others, ask if the school has community service programs and charity work to help foster that value. Ask all the questions to ensure your child's values align with your family.
The above are just some of the significant factors that could influence your choice of school. Other things to consider are the school's location, the student-to-teacher ratio, and whether the student body is same-gender or mixed. It is also essential to include your child in the decision-making process. They are the ones that will be most affected by this decision, after all.
