About Immaculate Heart
A Catholic, independent, college preparatory school for more than a century. Immaculate Heart empowers young women in grades 6-12 as lifelong learners prepared for today's challenges and opportunities.
The Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary established the high school in 1906 in the Los Feliz foothills of Los Angeles near Griffith Park. The middle school was added in 1975 to the same campus location at the corner of Western and Franklin Avenues.
Since its founding. Immaculate Heart remains committed to the intellectual vitality, spiritual growth, moral strength. and social-emotional development of girls. Its rigorous academic program. integrated with co-curricular activities including sports, serves students of geographic, ethnic and religious diversity. Virtually 100 percent matriculate to college, including to the most prestigious universities in the country, with many students receiving substantial merit scholarships.

At the Middle School, students benefit from a strong academic foundation, enabling a successful transition into Immaculate Heart's college preparatory high school with both enthusiasm and confidence. "Our faculty specializes in young adolescent education, and our low student-to-teacher ratio (11:1) ensures that students receive the individual attention needed at this pivotal time in their lives." said Immaculate Heart Middle School Principal Gina Finer.
Teaching Philosophy & Academic Program
Immaculate Heart fosters academic excellence in a creative environment. Inspired by a supportive faculty. students embrace a love of learning as they master new skills. In its spirit and style. the school combines a well-balanced mixture of the traditional and the innovative: of play and work; of concern for the things of the heart as well as the mind.
At the high school level. Immaculate Heart offers a robust curriculum featuring 13 honors classes and 17 Advanced Placement courses, including the two-year AP Capstone program. Offerings like "Engineer Your World" and "Advanced Algebra with Financial Applications" promote interest in science, technology, engineering and math fields as students solve real-world challenges. Unique classes like "Supreme Court" encourage an ongoing, open exchange of compelling ideas.

Nearly a third of all "IH Pandas" play at least one IH sport. Immaculate Heart fields teams in basketball, cross country, diving, equestrian, golf, fencing, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track & field, and volleyball, including beach volleyball.
Student lives are enriched by beloved traditions, such as Welcome Day, Mary's Day and the Christmas Program. The high school's annual commencement takes place at the Hollywood Bowl. Immaculate Heart's Catholic identity is rooted in service to others and social justice. Last year. students contributed more than 12,000 hours of community service. Additionally. students participate in retreats and liturgies, theatre, visual arts, and more than 30 clubs and organizations.
